Prof. Susumu Kitagawa Wins Humboldt Research Award

Prof. Susumu Kitagawa, Deputy Director of the iCeMS, has won a Humboldt Research Award from the Humboldt Foundation.

The award is given to a world-renowned researcher's entire achievements to date in various fields, ranging from natural science to humanities. Prof. Kitagawa has been granted the award in recognition of his studies on synthesis and functionalization of microporous coordination polymers. As of 2005, 40 of the awardees had become Nobel laureates.

The awardees are invited to a reception held every June at Bellevue Palace, German President's residence, hosted by the President of the Federal Republic of Germany. A symposium for the awardees and the award ceremony are scheduled in March 2009 in Bamberg, Germany.
