Prof. Sir Ian Wilmut Leads Delegation Visiting Kyoto University

On the 26th a delegation from the MRC Centre for Regenerative Medicine (CRM) of the University of Edinburgh, Scotland visited Kyoto University's Institute for Integrated Cell-Material Sciences (iCeMS) and Center for iPS Cell Research and Application (CiRA).

The members of the delegation, including CRM Director Prof. Sir Ian Wilmut and Deputy Director Prof. Charles ffrench-Constant, spoke at an iCeMS Seminar prior to meeting with iCeMS Director Prof. Norio Nakatsuji and Adj. Assoc. Prof. Kazuto Kato and later with CiRA Director Shinya Yamanaka and Deputy Director Tatsutoshi Nakahata.

The visit, which aimed to pave the way toward increased collaboration between the two institutes, was jointly organized by Scottish Development International (SDI) and Assoc. Prof. Shintaro Sengoku of the iCeMS' Innovation Management Group. The CRM delegation, which included Dr. Gordon McLean, Chief Operating Officer, and Mr. Ian Leslie and Mr. Yasutsune Kanatani of SDI, also visited Osaka and Tokyo to present lectures on recent developments in regenerative medicine and to meet with other Japanese researchers and industry representatives.
