A delegation from the embassy of the Netherlands paid a courtesy call to Kyoto University's Institute for Integrated Cell-Material Sciences (iCeMS) on June 1 to learn about the institute's research focus and international collaboration efforts.

The delegation, consisting of Dutch Embassy Science and Technology Attaché Daan Archer, Science and Technology Researcher Tim Vos, and Science and Technology Officer Kikuo Hayakawa, met with iCeMS Administrative Director Shinji Tomita and Innovation Management group leader Shintaro Sengoku.

Following a brief presentation of the institute by Dr. Tomita, they engaged in a wide-ranging discussion covering meso-control, the role of the World Premier International (WPI) institutes, and possibilities for joint collaboration with institutes and researchers in the Netherlands. Both parties agreed to maintain contact, with an aim toward possible future scientific cooperation.

Following the meeting, the delegation was led on a tour of the iCeMS buildings in the vicinity of the Yoshida Campus.
