June 22, 2010

A delegation from the Chinese Consulate-General in Osaka paid a courtesy call to Kyoto University on June 16.

The delegation of over 30 Chinese officials, headed by Deputy Consul General Zhang Xin, first met with Prof. Junichi Mori, director general of the Organization for the Promotion of International Relations of Kyoto University, Asst. Prof. Han Liyou of the university's International Center, and Mr. Teruo Tokura, Director of the International Affairs Division.

After touring The Kyoto University Museum, Ms. Zhang and her colleagues paid a visit to Kyoto University's Institute for Integrated Cell-Material Sciences (iCeMS) and met with iCeMS Administrative Director Prof. Shinji Tomita. Following a brief presentation of the institute by Prof. Tomita, focusing on its ground-breaking research and distinctive management principles, Dr. Liu Li of the Chen Lab gave an address in Chinese, outlining her research activities.

In spite of their tight schedule, the visitors also toured the institute and listened intently to explanations from other iCeMS researchers.
