UCLA-CNSI's Global Partnership Director Speaks at the iCeMS

December 7, 2010

On December 6th, Dr. David Lundberg, director of the Global Partnership Program at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Extenal LinkCalifornia NanoSystems Institute (CNSI), delivered a seminar at Kyoto University's Institute for Integrated Cell-Material Sciences (iCeMS) on challenges facing newly founded research institutes and effective measures that can be employed to increase their global standing (the 65th iCeMS Seminar).

Attendees included numerous researchers as is usually the case for iCeMS Seminars, but also notably many administrators with an international focus from across the Kyoto University campus. The session provided all participants with a notable opportunity to learn how to contribute to the further development of their outreach efforts.

Dr. Lundberg discussed five key elements in the process of increasing international visibility:

Numerous practical issues were raised during the discussion that followed Dr. Lundberg's talk, including questions from both researchers and administrators. The seminar ended in a friendly mood, with Dr. Lundberg presenting CNSI baseball caps to iCeMS Administrative Director Prof. Shinji Tomita and iCeMS Overseas Affairs and Planning administrator Mr. Daisuke Yamada.
