Motomu Tanaka to Host International SPIRITS Symposium in Kyoto on March 26

March 24, 2014

Institute for Cell-Material Sciences (iCeMS) professor Motomu Tanaka will host a one-day, international symposium titled "Principles of Hydra Immortality Using Smart Materials and Microdevices," on March 26, 2014 at Shiran Kaikan's Yamauchi Hall.

The event, made possible by Kyoto University's SPIRITS grant, brings together prominent Japanese and German researchers -- from the fields of physics, robotics and biology -- to discuss regenerative features of hydra. SPIRITS stands for "supporting program for interaction-based initiative team studies" and serves as a mechanism for promoting international collaborations to create innovative areas of science.

Registration is free and open to all individuals who are interested in attending.
