iCeMS researchers attend Royal Society's UK-Japan Seminar

March 17, 2015

Professor Susumu Kitagawa, Director of Institute for Integrated Cell-Material Sciences (iCeMS), attended the "Royal Society International Seminar: A UK-Japan Meeting on Transforming Framework Materials Chemistry" held at the Royal Society's Chicheley Hall in Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom, and delivered a talk on the foresight of porous materials and newly developed gas separating features.

This seminar was held as a sequel of the "UK-Japan Workshop on Organic-Inorganic Framework Materials" that was held at the iCeMS Main Building in October, 2013. British and Japanese researchers leading the inorganic solid materials field were summoned by Professor Extenal LinkAnthony Cheetham (University of Cambridge), Professor Extenal LinkRussell Morris (University of St. Andrews), and Professor Susumu Kitagawa.

From the iCeMS faculty, Adjunct Professor Hiroshi Kitagawa, Adjunct Professor Hiroshi Kageyama, and Associate Professor Shuhei Furukawa gave presentations on their latest research findings on porous materials or inorganic solid materials, which elicited many questions and comments from the audience.

Poster presentations were also held at the lobby next to the hall, where participants' lively discussions took place.

Professor Cheetham concluded the meeting by expressing his gratitude to those who supported the event, and also proposed a possible follow-up meeting to take place in the near future, to which Professor Kitagawa and other participants responded with a round of applause.
