Director Kitagawa receives Japan Academy Prize

Kyoto University Institute for Integrated Cell Material Sciences (iCeMS) Director Susumu Kitagawa was elected as a recipient of the Japan Academy Prize for his outstanding research achievements.

Director Kitagawa was awarded for his studies on "Creation and Application of Porous Metal Complex Materials".

Since 1911, the Japan Academy has given out the award to a number of world-leading scientists including Nobel Prize laureates, such as Ryoji Noyori and Kenichi Fukui.

The awards ceremony will be held in June at the Japan Academy in Tokyo, in the presence of both the Emperor and Empress of Japan.
