2nd iCeMS-CiRA Classroom: Hands-On with Stem Cells!

July 2, 2010

On August 4 and 5, Kyoto University's Institute for Integrated Cell-Material Sciences (iCeMS) and Center for iPS Cell Research and Application (CiRA) are jointly sponsoring a stem cell laboratory workshop iCeMS-CiRA Classroom 2010 for high school students. The program will also be co-sponsored by the Kyoto Prefectural Board of Education as part of a higher-education outreach effort.

The first such stem cell classroom was held in November 2009, and the curriculum this year has been refined based on feedback from the previous sessions. 32 students from around the country are expected to take part in this opportunity to experience stem cell science first-hand, learning how to use micropipettes and laboratory-grade microscopes to probe the mysteries of ES and iPS cells.

All sessions will be conducted in Japanese. For more details and information on how to apply, please see the flyer at right and the Japanese-language announcement.
