5th iCeMS Seminar - Dr. Kohji Kasahara

On Friday, April 25, Dr. Kohji Kasahara from Tokyo Metropolitan Institute of Medical Science will give an iCeMS seminar, entitled "Translocation of fibrin to lipid rafts of blood platelets by thrombin stimulation."

Dr. Kasahara made great contributions in revealing the signal transduction processes by way of the raft domains in the plasma membrane, mostly using neuronal cells. Recently, he turned his attention to the signaling in platelet activation, which he had worked on previously, and made interesting observations about the specific signal-dependent incorporation of fibrin in lipid raft domains. In this talk, he will give a comprehensive report on his results, starting from the background of the platelet activation, ending by explaining the physiological significance of the translacation of the membrane protein fibrin to the raft domains.
