162nd iCeMS Seminar: Prof Pascal D C Dietzel

The isostructural microporous coordination polymers [M2(dhtp)] (aka CPO-27-M, M-MOF-74 or M2(dobdc)) are an intriguing series of compounds in respect to many properties and, especially, sorption related phenomena due to the high concentration of coordinatively unsaturated metal sites. The compounds with M = Ni, Co, Mg, Zn, and Mn have been investigated exhaustively previously. More recently, compounds with M = Fe and Cu have been prepared. The talk will present facets of the more recent and current research conducted in the research group, with a focus on CPO-27-Fe and Cu. Their properties deviate in many aspects dramatically from the other members of the series. The results will be put into context and hopefully illustrate the amazing chemical versatility of these materials.
