In the afternoon of January 24, iCeMS co-held a symposium with Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research (JNCASR) and about 80 researchers and students gathered at JNCASR, located in Bangalore, India.

From iCeMS, Assoc Prof Shuhei Furukawa gave an invited talk on porous materials (PCP/MOF) and its application to cell biology, and Director Susumu Kitagawa gave a plenary lecture titled “Present and Future of PCP/MOF”. Five researchers from JNCASR including Assoc Prof Tapas Kumar Maji, the organizer of the symposium, also gave presentations.

“We exchanged ideas with JNCASR researchers who work on porous materials, supramolecular chemistry, spectroscopy and theoretical chemistry,” commented Furukawa. “It was a very productive opportunity for us to discuss future collaborative research and possibilities of a joint symposium.”
