Mitinori Saitou Awarded Yomiuri Techno Gold Medal Prize

Mitinori Saitou
The Yomiuri Techno Forum awarded the 19th Gold Medal prize to Mitinori Saitou at the Kyoto University Graduate School of Medicine and Institute for Integrated Cell-Material Sciences (iCeMS) for his work in "the reconstruction and elucidation of germ cell development mechanisms". Saitou received a solid gold medallion in addition to a monetary award of ¥500,000 (5000 USD). The University of Tokyo Prof. Shoji Asai and Kyushu University Associate Prof.
Akira Ito were also recipients of this year's award.
Saitou becomes the fourth iCeMS principal investigator to win the prize, joining past awardees Profs. Shinya Yamanaka (2004), Motonari Uesugi (2006), and Hiroshi Imahori (2007).
Winners of this year's award will give lectures at the Japanese Press Center in Tokyo on May 16th and at the Yomiuri Shimbun main office in Osaka on July 3rd.
The Yomiuri Techno Forum was founded in 1995 and selects about three up-and-coming researchers annually who have shown outstanding achievements.
