Four WPI Institutes to participate in E-MRS Spring Meeting in France
May 19, 2014
The World Premier International Research Center Initiative (WPI) will be represented by four WPI research centers, including iCeMS, at the
European Materials Research Society (EMRS) 2014 Spring Meeting in Lille, France from May 26 to 30.
At the meeting, the WPI program will be featured in a workshop titled "Japan in Motion" from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on May 28 to showcase its latest research findings from each center, and efforts to create an environment where scientists of all levels can collaborate across borders and disciplines. The four WPI centers will also have a booth throughout the event and host a reception on May 27, which is open to all E-MRS attendees.
About the World Premier International Research Centre Initiative (WPI)
Launched in 2007 by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), the WPI aims to attain the highest levels possible for scientific research environments at six designated centers. This bid to achieve "global visibility", including attracting the world's best brains, also seeks to create a new model for Japanese academia, imparting greater autonomy to each institution in order to spark transformations in leadership, administration, and operation.
