120th iCeMS Seminar: Prof. Anthony K. Cheetham
The study of Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) is one of the most fashionable areas of materials chemistry. The Zeolitic Imidazolate Frameworks (ZIFs) are a particularly interesting sub-class of MOFs on account of their close structural relationship to aluminosilicate zeolites. I shall discuss our recent work on ZIFs, including their mechanical properties, behaviour under pressure and amorphization. I shall also describe some related work on dense hybrid frameworks, including their compressibility and the formation of nanosheets from layered frameworks.
