IITB-Kyoto Meet held at IIT Bombay

On January 4, researchers from Kyoto University, including iCeMS and the Institute for Chemical Research participated in the “IITB-Kyoto Meet,” hosted by the Department of Chemistry at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB).
The symposium began with a welcome by Prof Sanjog Nagarkar, a former iCeMS member and current Assistant Professor at IITB, who provided an overview of the day’s program. Prof Ruchi Anand, the Head of IITB’s Department of Chemistry and the organizing chair of this event, followed with opening remarks, emphasizing the strong ties between IITB and Kyoto University and presenting gifts to the Japanese delegation. iCeMS Director Prof Motonari Uesugi introduced iCeMS’ research, and shared his experiences with IITB.
The symposium featured three parallel sessions. In the Sustainability & Catalysis session, speakers included Prof Daniel Packwood (iCeMS), Prof Arnab Dutta (IITB), Prof Yasuhiro Ohki (ICR), Prof Ramaswamy Murugavel (IITB), and Prof Hiroko Yamada (ICR). The Materials & Spectroscopy session included presentations by Prof Chandramouli Subramaniam (IITB), Prof Tomoko Inose (iCeMS), Prof Kamendra P Sharma (IITB), Prof Shigeki Tokita (ICR), and Prof Teruo Ono (ICR). In the Chemical Biology session, speakers were Prof Ganesh Pandian Namasivayam (iCeMS), Prof Tapas Kumar Kundu (JNCASR), Prof Shinjiro Yamaguchi (ICR), Prof Ruchi Anand (IITB), and Prof Motonari Uesugi (iCeMS).
Each session also included presentations by IITB students, showcasing their research and contributing to the rich academic exchange.
The IIT-Kyoto Meet highlighted the strength of international collaboration in advancing science and deepening ties between Kyoto University and IIT Bombay.
