[New article available] iCeMS Frontrunners: Dr Kaoru Sugimura

A new article has been added to “iCeMS Frontrunners”. The eighth interview is with Dr Kaoru Sugimura.

In the series, we interview the leaders who are active at the forefront of iCeMS, and ask them not only about their researches but also personal lives.

The flies that gather around kitchen garbage might just annoy most people, but for Dr Sugimura, they are special creatures that support her research. The way she talks about them gives us a sense that she sees them as more than experimental organisms - that she may actually feel affection for them, allowing some genuine feeling to filter through her scientific work. Where might this have come from?
