第185回 アイセムスセミナー: Ingrid Weiss 博士
In biology, we find some interesting case studies for advantageous combinations of soft matter and hard matter. The tissue interface of a mollusc shell is one such system, where the guidance of extracellular processes results in "non-living" morphogenesis of composite materials with remarkable properties. Transmembrane responsive mechanisms of enzymes with myosin motors and polymer synthesis activity are discussed.
