121st iCeMS Seminar: Prof. Dr. Andreas Manz
Infectious disease is one of the threats to human health which is least predictable. This is caused by occasional occurrence of new strains, some of which spread very easily and can be extremely virulent. This has happened a few times during the last century. To investigate such spreading, and to support infectious disease research, we intend to develop several approaches to identify and quantify harmful microorganisms. I will present about our recent research with volatile metabolites, DNA and RNA, with instrumentation in ion mobility, PCR and microfluidics, and some related topics.
