On September 27, iCeMS held its International Symposium “Membrane Lipid Transporter Symposium” at the iCeMS Main Building, and gathered 86 participants.

At the beginning of the symposium, Professor Kazumitsu Ueda, an iCeMS adjunct PI, expressed his pleasure for being able to hold a symposium focusing on cell membrane, and then iCeMS Deputy Director Jun Suzuki explained recent iCeMS’ activities. Then fourteen scientists made presentations on their latest research on transporter protein that controls phospholipid and cholesterol in cell membranes. Each presentation led to keen discussions with the participants’ eager questions.

A banquet was held in the evening, where the speakers and participants had lively exchange of opinions.

The speakers also had a round table discussion on the next day, to frankly discuss the future of membrane research.
