Kenichi Toma Receives Special Prize at the 2024 Nikon Joico Award

Kenichi Toma, Program-Specific Assistant Professor of the iCeMS Kengaku Group, is awarded the Special Prize at the 2024 Nikon Joico Award.
Organized by Nikon Solutions Co Ltd, this award takes a unique approach by recognizing research works that combine both the artistic and scientific value of images captured through microscopy.
Toma was recognized for his entry titled “Interaction Between Nerves and Blood Vessels in Shaping the Three-Dimensional Pattern of the Vascular Network.” The award highlights his microscopy images showing direct contact between perivascular neurons and blood vessels—key to regulating the 3D structure of vascular networks—along with the broader scientific insights gained from this work.
