iCeMS Exhibits at Materials Research Society (MRS) Meeting in the US
The World Premier International Research Center Initiative (WPI) hosted a joint booth at the Materials Research Society (MRS) meeting, held in Boston, USA, from December 2nd to 4th. Representing Kyoto University's WPI-iCeMS (Institute for Integrated Cell-Material Sciences) at the exhibition was Program-Specific Assistant Professor Izumi Mindy Takamiya.
This booth was a collaborative effort involving staff from Kyoto University iCeMS, Tohoku University's WPI-AIMR, and the WPI Program Division of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), with support from the JSPS Washington Office.
Over the three-day event, approximately 450 visitors stopped by the WPI booth. Assistant Professor Takamiya introduced iCeMS' research content, specifically highlighting Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) — the research topic for which iCeMS’ Distinguished Professor Susumu Kitagawa recently received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry. Visitors listened intently, and a significant number of questions were posed.
There was also considerable interest in iCeMS’ unique internship program and JSPS’ various fellowship programs. Information on these opportunities was provided in collaboration with the JSPS staff.
This exhibition was an excellent opportunity to raise awareness of iCeMS among a broad range of materials science researchers. It is expected to lead to future developments in collaborative research and researcher exchange.
