NCKU-iCeMS-ASHBi hold joint meeting

On December 16, Dr Yan-Shen Shan, Dean of the School of Medicine, National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Taiwan, and his delegation visited iCeMS for a joint meeting with ASHBi, the other WPI institute within Kyoto University.

The meeting was held with the aim of exchanging a wide range of views on what kind of collaborative research is possible when Kyoto University’s iCeMS establishes a Taiwan office in the National Biotech Research Park in Taiwan.

iCeMS Director Susumu Kitagawa introduced the office and explained the concept of the On-site Laboratory developed by iCeMS. Next, ASHBi Vice Director Tadashi Isa introduced ASHBi. Each of the three institutes then introduced their research and participants joined in a lively discussion about future collaboration.

iCeMS Deputy Director Jun Suzuki commented that, “The collaboration with the National Cheng Kung University School of Medicine will be a powerful one, especially in terms of developing human applications of research results.”
