Susumu Kitagawa Selected as 2025 Highly Cited Researcher

Clarivate Analytics has selected Distinguished Professor Susumu Kitagawa as one of the Highly Cited Researchers in 2025. Papers often cited by other papers significantly impact their respective fields of study. Therefore, the list draws global attention every year when it is announced.

Professor Kitagawa's work is globally recognized for pioneering the field of Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs). These revolutionary, highly porous materials are key to developing next-generation solutions in environmental sustainability, energy efficiency, and chemical separation.

Authors of papers that have been cited the most times worldwide over the past ten years are selected for each field of research. This year, 7,131 individuals were selected.

This is the twelveth consecutive year that Kitagawa was selected for the list. He was previously awarded a Thomson Reuters Citation Laureate in 2010.
