Associate Professor Daishi Fujita selected as InaRIS Fellow for 2022

On March 18, Professors Daishi Fujita of iCeMS and Shunsuke Fukami of Tohoku University were announced as the two material scientists chosen as this year’s fellows by the Inamori Research Institute for Science (InaRIS). The Inamori Foundation seeks to promote peace and prosperity among all people on Earth through the promotion of mutual understanding by supporting programs which foster science, culture, and the enrichment of the human spirit. The InaRIS Fellowship program provides 10 years of support totaling 100 million yen to researchers engaged in investigations into topics with high potential.

The theme of this year's call was "Exploration of Forefronts in "Materials" Research, and Fujita was recognized for his research on creating molecular cages which can house proteins in attempts to utilize their extremely efficient properties of energy conversion outside of the biological environment. In 2023 the fellowship will be awarded to two researchers “transcending the future with informatics.”
