2026 iCeMS Internship Announcement
iCeMS to open applications for 2026 summer internship program
The Institute for Integrated Cell-Material Sciences (iCeMS) at Kyoto University is pleased to announce that applications will open on January 15, 2026, for its upcoming summer internship program. This five-week intensive initiative offers a unique opportunity for undergraduate students currently enrolled at foreign universities to engage in world-class, cross-disciplinary research. iCeMS' mission focuses on the integration of cell biology, chemistry, mathematics, and materials science to address significant global challenges, with a primary emphasis on self-assembly—the process by which molecules spontaneously organize into functional structures.
Selected interns will conduct independent research in these cutting-edge fields under the mentorship of esteemed iCeMS Principal Investigators. Participating faculty for the 2026 session include Professors Daishi Fujita, Aiko Fukazawa, Shuhei Furukawa, Tomoko Inose, Mineko Kengaku, Susumu Kitagawa, Ganesh Pandian Namasivayam, Daniel Packwood, Easan Sivaniah, Jun Suzuki, and Motonari Uesugi. This program serves as a critical stepping stone for students aspiring to pursue graduate studies at Kyoto University and contribute to the advancement of science.
"The iCeMS Internship Program offers not only cutting-edge research experience but also a chance to work closely with world-class professors and researchers in a truly international environment. It is an excellent opportunity to learn new skills, broaden your perspective, and build meaningful international connections. Personally, I highly recommend applying for this internship—you will leave with knowledge, skills, and memories that last a lifetime", noted a 2025 iCeMS Intern.
The application period will conclude on February 26, 2026, at 5:00 pm (JST).
